Love my Grandpa!

This is too cute not to share... Grandpa came in during Anna's Seven Week photo shoot and had to get some smiles out of her!

How CAN you resist this face?

You cannot...

7 Weeks Old

Get used to seeing these posts. If you're reading this blog, there is going to be a weekly post of Anna Kate's growth. I really can't wait (but I can wait, she doesn't need to grow up so fast) to put all of these photos side by side and be able to watch her grow up all over again. This week is much like week six- fussiness, lack of sleep for everyone, but more and more smiles. The smiles make it all worth it.

Happy Seven Weeks Big Girl!

Almost caught a smile...

"Emma eats WHAT?"

Check me out in my cute outfit!

Phone Photos

So we don't always use our nice camera to take pictures. Often I just pull out my phone when Anna is being precious. Here are some of the pictures from my phone. Some are sideways, I blame the app I used...

Bath Time!

Since Anna Kate's first traumatic bath experience (not a fan!), she has come to enjoy it much more! She becomes instantly calm and relaxed once we get her in the water, and she seems to enjoy this part of the night. Mark took these pictures when we realized what a good mood she was in, but of course she put away her big smiles when the camera came out! She couldn't take her eyes off Mommy!

Six Weeks!

Anna Kate is six weeks old! Someday I may get good enough to actually post these photos on the weekend, when we take them...

Anyways, week six will live in infamy in the Rotman household. This is the week our sweet infant acted like a real infant. We enjoyed very little sleep and a cranky little girl this week. Turns out, as we had noticed every once in a while, Anna is having trouble with gas. So, gas drops were purchased, mommy's diet was limited to avoid gassy foods, and we brought Anna Kate to Mark's parents on Saturday so that we could take an uninterrupted nap. By Monday, Anna was back to normal, so we will begin to take out some of the variables to see if we can pinpoint what makes her so uncomfortable!

Now, enjoy some pretty photos of Miss Anna Kate. She almost gave me some smiles!

Sweet Sleeper

Miss Unpredictable... if I could remember, I bet this nap in her bed didn't last as long as it was "supposed" to. Oh babies...

Bottles... or Not

So, in attempt to ever have any kind of freedom (we have the babysitters lining up!), we tried to give Anna Kate her first bottle. We did not have much success. I guess we will be heading to the store to pick up various bottles to see if she will take one... Here is a photo before the crying began.

5 Weeks!

Here are sweet Anna Kate's 5 week photos! Updates on Anna's fifth week of life: lots of changes in sleeping and waking habits! After our post about how sweet it is to wake Anna Kate up to nurse, she rarely has allowed us to be the ones to wake her- she must read the blog, she likes to keep us on her toes. In other news, she is very awake and alert these days- giving us occasional smiles and coos, turning her head to our voices (more obviously), and observing the world around her. The color of her eyes is still up for discussion- Mark wants hazel, but I think they will absolutely be dark brown- all Marshall babies have dark brown eyes!

At her one month appointment, Anna weighed 9 pounds 10 ounces, and measured 22 inches long. This jumped her up from the fiftieth percentiles to the seventieth/seventy-fifth! Her head measured 14.75 inches, in the sixtieth percentile- so I guess there is one Marshall trait she didn't inherit (no big head! Or at least not bigger than her other growth factors..)

Shades

Here is a precious picture of Anna Kate in her moby wrap enjoying the sunshine. Mommy thought she needed to rock some shades to protect her little eyes. They were a little big, and she is a baby, so needless to say this didn't last very long.. but man is she cute!

Family Visits

Last week, Anna had two big outings. At this point, a big outing consists of leaving the house for a length of time longer than one nap. The first was a trip to Mark's parents house, as you have already seen on the blog. What you didn't get to see was Anna Kate being held for the first time by her Uncle Ben. Yes, like the rice.

Then, while my (Sara) parents were in town, we went to Taylorsville to visit with Anna Kate's Great Grandparents and great Uncle Bobby. These are pictures of her with her Nanny. Since it was pouring rain when we got to Great Grandma Marshall's I left the camera in the car by accident as we were in a hurry to get Anna inside.

Lastly, her Great Grandma Post came over to visit before heading back to Michigan to give Anna Kate some love and snuggles. By the time we get to Michigan we will hopefully be pros at "outings"!

Never Wake a Sleeping Baby

So we have all heard the rule "never wake a sleeping baby". Unless her name is Anna Kate, otherwise you better wake her up or she will sleep all day... In fact, we (I) have to wake her up to eat in the middle of the night (which she rarely cries about), even after letting her go five hours from her last feeding. During the day, I wake her up from naps to feed her so that I can enjoy that "long" sleep stretch each night.

Waking her up from her naps in the afternoon is one of the most precious things. Mark and I tried to document waking a sleeping precious baby, and this is what we got...

Waking up is hard work for a baby,

 Yeah, sleeping is much easier.

Big yawn!

Ticking the baby is always helpful. Except she doesn't laugh yet. So really it is just irritating the baby,

Awake.. now what?

4 Weeks & 1 Month!

So, on Saturday, we took Anna Kate's four week pictures. I can't wait to look back on these photos to see her grow week by week (although we will be sad when these sweet baby days are done!).

Then, today, April 9, we took pictures of Miss Anna at one month old. Aunt Laura gave us these cool stickers to put on Anna that say how old she is. I wish I was as tech-savvy (or had photo shop, or took more photography classes) so that I could do awesome pictures like Young House Love. Alas, we will have to deal with my version of the photo project, and the stickers help the month by month photos be more cohesive.

Playtime!

Everyday, Anna Kate loves to spend time playing on her mat. She loves the huge whale hanging from the side and will spend a long time (in baby time) looking at the whale and batting in it's general direction while kicking up a storm. Some day I will capture her kicking, so she can have a video like her cousin Avery.

Baby Photo Ops

Every once in a while, I like to torture my baby by dressing her up and taking pictures of her. This is like a once a week thing, and I'm sure she will cherish the photos when she is older- HA!

Anna's true feelings on the situation...

Happy Friday!

Four Generations

On Easter Sunday, we were also lucky to be able to see Mark's Grandma Post and Aunt Jan. They were in from Michigan to pick up Mark's mom to go on a trip to Florida to enjoy some sunshine. After lunch on Sunday, we took some photos to show four generations together!

Three Weeks: Happy Easter!

Anna Kate is now three weeks old! We decided to photograph her this week in her "Easter Outfit". We unfortunately didn't make it to Easter service to show her off, so here she is for everyone to enjoy!

Anna's true feelings on taking so many pictures..

After being calmed down, looking pretty as ever!
